The land-rush opening of the Cherokee Strip brings in its wake a scattering of outlaws and claim jumpers. Among these is a crooked promoter. Trent Parker (Frank Jacquet), and his henchmen who plan a huge swindle by compiling falsified reports, putting the claims of honest settlers into the names of various henchmen. Clay Stevens (Allan Lane), a government agent posing as a drifting cowhand, advises the settlers to organize their resistance. Ben Jode (Roy Barcroft), the gang leader, runs for sheriff so he can gain full control of the town.

A band of raiders are about to run the Murphys off of their homestead when they are stopped by the Rev. Harding and his sister Vicky. Gang leader Duke Flinders is about to shoot Harding when the Durango Kid appears and runs off the outlaws. Steve Ransom is persuaded by the townspeople to beome their Marshal. He soon learns that saloon owner Blaze Howard and Doc Weston are behind the raids and plot to gain the homesteads.

Roy takes the blame and is ordered off of the property by Willard, over the protests of his niece June. Then Devery has two of his men, whom he has planted on the guest ranch ran by Splinters McGonigle, steal a diamond brooch belonging to Mrs. Edsel and the blame is placed on one of the work camp boys, Jim Corley. Roy has his work cut out for him to clear the boys of the pending charges, especially after Devery has Warden Parker killed and Roy's crew is also blamed for that.

Adam Larey is looking for the killer of his father when he was a boy. His only clue is a brand and he finds it when he runs into the Collinshaws. When he learns that Jim Collinshaw, now an old man and an invalid is the one, he is unable to kill him and leaves. But Eliot then kills Collinshaw and blames Adam and Adam finds himself in jail charged with the murder.

Jerry Long and Jane Worth are heirs to an abandoned mining town. Judge Drake knows there is gold there and wants them to sell. He plans to scare Jane and has hired Jerry, not knowing his true identity, to impersonate the other heir. Jane is quickly scared and is ready to leave, but Jerry doesn't want to and sets out to find the truth.
